Dining Alone: In the Company of Solitude' highlights the complexities of solitude, emphasizing the experience of being alone while dining in public. Spanning over three decades, Scherl captures a universal and timeless quality in her  portraits. The series culminated during the pandemic, where she captured a timely aspect of her lone diners during the pandemic. Photographed against the backdrop of outdoor dining spaces the sense of isolation was pronounced. Each diner in Dining Alone invites viewers to indulge in considering points of view.
